Two more months and we are on our way down to Myrtle Beach, SC. I can't wait and neither can Tom and the boys. This is going to be our first real vacation together. I think this is the perfect ages for James and Matthew to really enjoy it. They have gone down to Long Island to visit with their dad but he usually worked while they visited relatives and no one really did too much with them down there besides go to the beach for the day.
This trip is going to be your typical pack up the car during the day, grab the coffees, make beds out of pillows and blankets and depart during the wee hours of the night trip. I used to do that when I was younger with my parents and sisters. I remembered the smell of that fresh southern air and felt the warmth of the sun on our faces. Our first stop was usually a Bob's Big Boy or any place down there that served warm biscuits and sausage gravy. After filling up we then moved onward to our destination in our brown paneled station wagon. Usually when we stopped at night to sleep and it would have been at a truck stop because we couldn't afford a hotel or motel back then but that made it more the funner. Eh maybe not so much for my mom and dad who had kinked necks from sleeping propped up leaning on the windows all night but us girls were in heaven. Trips like that I will never forget and I hope after this first trip my boys will never forget either.
